Gourmet Picnic On The Great Wall of China

Walk along the ancient Jiankou section of the Great Wall of China, offering perhaps the most authentic experience with unrestored towers and crumbling ramparts, towards the renovated section at Mutianyu.

Soak in the views with a picnic lunch on the wall, away from the crowds and in all its rugged, untouched grandeur. The first hour of the trek is an approach to the ancient structure, which gradually comes into view, before hiking past crumbling watchtowers as the wall becomes steadily more restored as you head towards Mutianyu.

Be sure to break the journey at the Zhengbeilou Tower with its panoramic views over the Jiankou wall and the surrounding countryside. After around 5 hours of hiking you’re rewarded with a picnic of cheese and wine on the Great Wall before being driven back to Beijing in the evening.
