6 AM Morning Routine: 5 Advantages That Could Change Your Health and Mindset

‘’Early to bed, and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise’’ – Ben Franklin.

Scientist and mental health professionals have been proving throughout the years that it is beneficial, and highly recommended to wake up early. Being an early bird has been proven to deliver healthier lifestyles, improve our mental health and our productivity.

There are a lot of benefits derived from waking up early, but in this article, you will find a summary of the main benefits with which all health professionals agree.

You will be less likely to suffer from mental illnesses

According to research published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, those who are going to bed earlier and waking up at 6 AM in the morning are 25% less likely to develop depression or any type of mental illness. This research comes from the proven activity of people that wake-up early and give themselves time to concentrate on their emotional and physical well-being, as mornings are usually regarded as a more relaxed time.

Improves your sleep quality

It is really important to go to sleep at the same time every day, so your body can get into a sleeping routine or also defined as the body’s internal clock. In this way, our body will naturally wake up at the same time every day.

Boosts your productivity

The principal reason for this advantage is that waking up early will ultimately create more time into your day, to work both on yourself and, perhaps, catch-up with some work that you were not able to finish the day before. Let’s put this into numbers: if you wake up every day at 8 AM for work, but start waking up at 6 AM this will give you an extra of 8 hours a week! That’s a whole working day added to your weekly agenda.

Gives you more time to work on your goals

It is really important to work on our goals on a daily basis, so you can have a clear idea of where you are and where you want to be. Our brain also tends to make better decisions in the morning than later in the day, helping us to create realistic and positive future goals.

Physical improvement

Waking up early has shown a positive impact on our body and our physical activity. Our diet tends to get benefit from being better because it is more likely that you will have a hearty, healthy breakfast instead of that quick coffee which is not recommended on a healthy diet. Also, this extra time in the morning will give you space to fit some exercise into your schedule, and it’s proven that working out in the morning gives us extra-energy for the rest of the day!
