Hawksmoor Woof Wharf: Elegant Steak & Seafood Dining On A Floating Pavilion

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf, which first opened its doors in late 2021, is a must-visit and can be found nestled among Canary Wharf’s glistening skyscrapers. Following a recent visit to the latest in the already much-loved luxury restaurant chain, we can happily say that it is now one of our top favourite restaurants in London.

The Wood Wharf location, the group’s seventh in the city, is situated on an environmentally friendly floating pavilion constructed of sustainably sourced wood decking and topped with a green roof planted with wildflowers and grasses. It is Hawksmoor’s biggest venue yet, with a 150-seat restaurant, a 120-seat bar, and outdoor space spread out across three stories.

The restaurant has its own walkway that takes you directly to the second floor of the building, the primary dining space; a sophisticated, dimly lit lounge with parquet floors, oxblood leather banquettes, and a marble-topped cocktail bar. The sleek art deco lines of the glass booth dividers and antique lighting echo back to “The Golden Age of Travel” an elegant time period of transatlantic passenger cruising, giving the restaurant a romantic and high-end vibe as soon as guests enter.

The menu is brimming with choice  and revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer as in all of the Hawksmoor branches, with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu including Oysters three ways, that have solidified Hawksmoor as one of London’s favourite restaurants.

Steak is, of course, the main attraction on the menu, but there are other options to sample such as charcoal-grilled oysters and halibut with porcini and bone marrow sauce. After much deliberation we dined on the scallops and old spot belly ribs to start, both well portioned in size, beautifully plated and packed with flavour.

For our main, we both went for steaks from the “large cuts” section, with a 800g Porterhouse and a 750g T-bone steak – cooked to perfection, succulent, melt in the mouth – the best steaks in London. You will also want to leave space for dessert as guests will find themselves spoilt for choice at Hawksmoor Woof Wharf – we highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding and the “ambassador”.

The Lowback is the name of the Hawksmoor Wood Wharf’s plush bar which is ideal for after work drinks or a date night with a romantic yet buzzy ambience. Here visitors will find a completely new cocktail menu that the Hawksmoor team have been working on for the past two years, featuring drinks such as a pink Bellini Moscato (peach, Campari, Moscato) and for those that don’t drink alcohol or who are doing dry January, we highly recommend the Steady Pete.
