Milan Hotel Review: The Charming & Stylish NH Palazzo Moscova Hotel

We recently took a trip to Milan, Italy and prior to leaving London, we found ourselves struggling to choose a hotel to stay at, with so many on offer, booking the wrong hotel can really ruin a holiday. For me, three things always come to my mind when booking where to stay on a vacation; location and accessibility, character and breakfast.

I can happily say that the NH Milano Palazzo Moscova nails all three in an extremely positive light and until we return to Milan one day again, I’ll be dreaming of this luxury property and recommending it to all of my friends and family.

On another unrelated note, my partner Lewis also surprised me with this most romantic proposal during a day trip to Lake Garda – it was perfect, dreamy and I still feel like I’m floating on a big fluffy cloud. The NH Milano Palazzo Moscova will therefore always have a special place in my heart, because it’s the place we were able to make so many special memories together, during this unforgettable time, and it truly was the most perfect back-drop for an engagement weekend.

Read on to find out more on why this hotel is such a hit in the heart of Milan.

LOCATION

Located in a historic and charming palazzo that once used to be home to Milan’s first train station in 1840, the NH Palazzo Moscava is handily based halfway between two Metro stations; Garibaldi and Republica – both less than 10 minutes walking distance away.

The Porta Nuova business district is also five minutes’ walk away, making the hotel ideal for those on a business trip and the many shopping boutiques of Corso Como can also be found just a few minutes’ away on foot.

For those hoping to get to the main sights quickly, the Duomo Cathedral Square is a 25-minute walk away or 14 minutes on the Metro. The hotel is also close to the city’s main museums and nearby restaurants and cafes.

ROOMS & SUITES

We stayed in a stunning suite for three nights, which was brightly decorated and fully equipped with comfortable and stylish furnishings. All of the hotel’s rooms have been recently refurbished and are unique in character, size, and interior, with some rooms being split-level and some featuring white or blue walls. Overall all rooms have that chic Italian flair and are stylish, modern and clean.

The first thing that I noticed about our suite and adored, was its three large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in so much light; making it feel bright, airy and oh-so-romantic.

In every room, guests will also find a tea and coffee station with a kettle, capsule coffee machine – ours was located on the second floor of our suite, along with a small living area. All rooms and suites are also decked out with air-conditioning and large television screens and in-room wifi access. Many of the rooms also have views of the city, while on the fourth-floor rooms have their own skylight – we were lucky enough to have the most beautiful city view and stayed in room 205.

For those wanting extra space or travelling with a family, it is recommended to book a suite as there is a large separate sitting area, with a sofa that can be turned into an extra bed.

DINING

The NH Milano Palazzo Moscova has its own restaurant that guests can enjoy, which is run by Tuscan truffle brand, Savini. The menu features a lot of truffle-based specialties, with guests being able to choose white or black truffle freshly shaved on delicious dishes, such as fresh pasta, eggs, or beef tartare. The restaurant’s cocktail bar is also the perfect place to refresh and enjoy an aperitivo or a post-dinner drink. Guests can also enjoy cocktails on the stunning terrace at the entrance of the hotel.

Onto, my favourite meal of the day, breakfast! The first meal of the day is served in the restaurant and also includes a large buffet with several stations serving up sweet and savoury options. If a buffet isn’t your thing, then you can also fill up on a range of a la carte options for no extra charge. All food is prepared fresh each morning and we absolutely loved the wide choice of fresh fruit juices, pastries, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, yoghurt, breads and so much more.

If you’re an early riser or you need to leave for the airport or a day tour before breakfast opens at 7am, you can ask reception about an early bird breakfast.

SERVICE

The service at the hotel is absolutely splendid, with staff always being courteous and professional, as well as friendly and warm. A concierge is present at the reception, 24 hours a day and on hand to help guests with anything they need.

Late checkout of 3pm is also offered to all guests leaving on a Sunday. We were also able to take advantage of the hotel’s free baggage hold as our flight wasn’t until late one evening and we wanted to make the most of the day by exploring without having to cart out luggage around.

AMENITIES

After a long day of exploring, we found the perfect place to relax at the hotel’s amaTi SPA, which is free for guests to access and includes a sauna, hammam, whirlpool tub and fitness centre with Technogym equipment. The SPA also has a wide range of massages and beauty treatments on offer.

The hotel also has a meeting room for guests to use, on-site basement parking, bicycle rental, laundry service, and room service.
