I’ve had the great pleasure of staying at several Mandarin Oriental properties around the world and its Singapore property has to be up there with one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve stayed in in the Far East.
This well-located luxury hotel is geared towards, couples, families and business travellers and with its mix of chic and classicly Asian decor, fantastic location, panoramic views, and multiple restaurants, you don’t want to miss out on this ultimate urban retreat.

Location
Handily located along Singapore’s famous Marina Bay, the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is connected by an indoor walkway to the Marina Square Mall, which is home to hundreds of big-name shops, restaurants, and bars.
The hotel is also just a stone’s throw away from the Singapore Flyer, Esplanade Theatres and the Suntec Singapore Convention Centre us also nearby for those travelling on business.
The closest mode of public transport (the Promenade MRT) is only a few minutes walk away from the Mandarin Oriental, while the Esplanade MRT is just a 10-minute walk from the property. Elsewhere, if you’re looking for easy access to Marina Bay Sands and the CBD, they can both be accessed via a 5-minute taxi ride.

Rooms
We stayed in a Club Marina Bay Room, which was located on Level 18 of the hotel and comes with exclusive club lounge access to the MO’s Oriental Club, with benefits such as; champagne breakfast and afternoon tea daily, along with all-day soft beverages, evening cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, private check-in and check-out at the Oriental Club Lounge and much more.
The Mandarin Oriental boasts a whopping 527 rooms and suites, but it still manages to make guests feel at home and far from intimidated by its grand scale. All of the clubrooms also feature large windows and glorious city or bay views of Singapore.
Offering 34sqm of space, the Club Marina Bay Rooms are located on the highest floors of the hotel and feature marble bathrooms equipped with large baths and walk-in showers. The rooms are also designed with understated luxury in mind, combining traditional Oriental touches of silk and elegant artwork with contempt furnishings.
Restaurants & Bars
I have something in common with the Singaporeans, I love to eat, so it can be rather a tough task to impress me when it comes to hotel restaurants, but the Mandarin Oriental Singapore’s restaurants were some of the best I’ve ever eaten at.
The hotel’s breakfast buffet takes place in the Melt Cafe and features almost every international dish you could crave, from fresh roti to chocolate waffles. Lunch, weekend brunch and dinner buffets are also served in the Melt Cafe and spread across multiple areas with live cooking stations.
A favourite of mine has to be the hotel’s very own Morton’s The Steak House, which has a fantastic reputation for its service and elegance in Singapore’s fine dining industry. Serving up some of the most succulent steak and the freshest seafood, paired with its award-winning wine list, this classic American steakhouse is an experience you don’t want to miss.
In addition to the main dining room, Morton’s, The Steakhouse, Singapore features three private dining rooms, offering exclusive spaces for both corporate entertainment and family celebrations.
If you fancy more local cuisine then you’ll want to pay a visit to the hotel’s Cantonese restaurant, Cherry Garden. Elsewhere, there’s the Dolce Vita for an authentic Italian menu, Teppan-Ya for contemporary Japanese cuisine as well as Bay@5 and Mo Bar for cocktails and light bites. Room service is available 24 hours.
Service & Facilities
With five restaurants, two bars, and a range of wellness facilities – including an outdoor pool with a spectacular view – guests can relax and dine without ever having to leave the property.
The hotel’s 85-foot (25 meter) mosaic-tiled outdoor pool is a highlight, featuring in-pool lounge chairs and fountains. The highlight, however, has to be the jaw-dropping skyline view which includes landmarks like the Marina Bay Sands hotel and the Singapore Flyer.
Mandarin Oriental Singapore also has its own on-site spa featuring single and couples treatment rooms, semi-private consultation booths, a manicure and pedicure area, a relaxation room, and male and female changing areas with showers.
The spacious fitness center looks like part of an upscale health club, with indoor and outdoor spaces, wood floors, and even chandelier lighting. There’s a weightlifting area with a full rack of free weights, cardio machines with individual screens, a stretching area, and a Kinesis wall. Personal trainers and yoga classes are also available for a fee.
Family Offerings
If you’re travelling with children it can be hard to find a family-friendly place to stay and somewhere that will keep the kids entertained.
This luxury hotel is super family-friendly and in addition to the fantastic pool area, kid-friendly options are in most restaurants and in-room dining.
Special amenities are sent to kids ages 12 and under, and parents can also arrange babysitting services through the concierge.
