Our Top Home Workouts to Help You Lose Weight & Stay Active

Finding the motivation to continue exercising during lockdown can be a huge challenge, especially as we slip into the dark, cold winter months. Luckily, we live in a time where creators from all around the world provide free workout videos on YouTube. It can be overwhelming to find the right workout for you and your goals, so we have narrowed them down to the top YouTube workouts to suit everyone!

Ballet

This full-body workout is perfect for those looking to switch up their routine, whether you have been a dancer all your life or were born with two left feet, this workout is for everyone as it focuses solely on the fitness training aspects of ballet.

The workout only requires a yoga mat, 15 minutes out of your day, and is completely low impact, so there is no need to worry about disturbing your downstairs neighbours.

By incorporating ballet workouts into your fitness regime, you will improve your strength, endurance, coordination, flexibility, and posture. You’ll also be rewarded with a toned, ballet dancer figure to show for it!

Yoga

With most of our time being spent sitting indoors, effective stretching, breathing, and meditation are essential to your daily routine.

Join one of the best yoga instructors on YouTube, Yoga With Adriene, as she guides you through a deep 45-minute stretch workout that targets the lower back and hips while relieving your mind of any stress.

HIIT

If any YouTuber knows how to get everyone off the couch it’s Chloe Ting. The fitness blogger’s videos gained a lot of attention during lockdown as she offers a variety of 2-week and 30-day challenges for your specific goals which can all be achieved at home.

The best aspects of this HIIT workout are that it’s fun and sustainable while achieving its purpose of increasing your metabolic rate and burning body fat for 24 hours or more afterward – which is what we all want!

The music will keep you motivated throughout, and it only takes around 20 minutes to complete. Chloe also includes low impact versions of each exercise to show you how to still do the movements effectively while causing little disturbance to anyone in your surroundings.

Partner

As therapeutic and focused as solo workouts can be, keeping up with your partner during a workout could be the challenge and motivation you need to push yourself further. It can also be a good way to relieve any tension and reconnect with them through everybody’s frustration of being stuck indoors!

Grab your other half, a relative or flatmate, and challenge them to this 20-minute strength training workout to improve your core strength, posture, and increase your heart rate.

Pilates

Pilates is a muscle-strengthening workout that focuses on strengthening the core and improving your overall fitness and wellbeing.

This 30-minute full-body workout is easy to follow with soothing background music and a calm setting, with tips on how to perfect your posture throughout.

Boxing

For those looking for a new intense challenge or are feeling inspired after watching a Rocky film, boxing training may be the workout for you.

Gain insight and expert tips from a professional boxing coach, who challenges you to conquer 4 rounds of fast-paced circuits with him in a 10-minute workout.

With a focus on conditioning at a Bootcamp level, you will improve your endurance, flexibility, power and speed.

If improving your fitness is one of your main priorities this lockdown, setting goals and tracking your progress in writing are the best ways to ensure consistency. It is important to remember, however, that falling off the wagon is a normal occurrence on the road to achieving your goals, especially during this difficult time – all you can do is try your best and don’t give up!
