HOSHINOYA Kyoto: A Picturesque Ryokan Retreat That Embodies Traditional Japanese Culture

Surrounded by lush greenery and plenty of wildlife, this serene location provides a perfect retreat while still being conveniently close to renowned attractions such as the enchanting Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, the historic Tenryu-ji Temple, and the playful residents of the Iwatayama Monkey Park. It’s the perfect blend of tranquility and accessibility.

Every one of the 25 guest rooms overlooks Mount Ogura and the Oi River, with four various types of rooms; Yamanoha, Tanigasumi, Yamanoharshi, and Mizunone. A true highlight of our stay was embarking on a boat ride through Arashiyama on the hotel’s original Japanese-style boat “Hisui”. Surrounded by nature, we were amazed at the breathtaking views and also enjoyed the experience of making matcha green tea while sailing through the seasonal scenery.
