After an exciting transformation with a fresh new design, a completely revamped menu and brand new Head Chef, Christian Parisi, Ember Yard has reopened in Soho and it’s back and better than ever.
Part of the Salt Yard Group, Ember Yard offers contemporary and traditional Spanish-Italian tapas set in a buzzing, yet intimate atmosphere. Nestled in the heart of London’s Soho, the stylish eatery is suitable for a low-key romantic dinner and ideal for foodies who want to indulge in a carefully crafted tasting menu – Ember Yard is the ideal place to indulge in some seriously fulfilling dishes.
New Head Chef, Christian Parisi, has come up with a brand new selection of seasonal and produce-led tapas dishes. Some of the dishes are cooked on the BBQ or wood fire grill, both typically associated with the Basque region of Spain.
For guests wanting a dining experience, you can get a front-row view of the chefs at work by pulling up a pew and dining overlooking the open kitchen.
When it comes to the menu, there’s an excellent range of Spanish and Italian charcuterie and regional cheeses to start with or snack dishes including Patatas bravas with aioli, Padron peppers and Chargrilled flatbread with Thyme and smoked butter. I highly recommend the prosciutto di parma, chorizo and 8 months aged nduja orba – all of which are cured to perfection, light and melt in your mouth.
The rest of the Ember Yard Menu is split up into Meat, Fish and Vegetable sections. Dishes feature the likes of Charred chorizo and octopus skewer with saffron aioli and Roast duck breast in a balsamic glazed beetroot with black garlic puree.
As for the fish section, there’s Scallops a la plancha, parsnips, apple, and hazelnut and Smoked confit sea trout, mussels sauce and mushroom tapenade.
Larger plate specialties cooked over natural charcoal on the Josper feature Barbecued whole seabream with classic Basque vinaigrette, Grass-fed rib-eye with chicken jus and Membrillio glazed pork ribs with spring onion, hazelnuts & smoked chili jam to name a few.
Every dish was plated beautifully and bursting with flavours that perfectly complimented each other. All tapas are a good size and 2-3 tapas dishes per person are recommended. We ordered 6 small dishes, one large dish ( the grass-fed ribeye with chicken jus) and a charcuterie board with flatbread to start.
For dessert we were spoilt for choice and opted for the Dulce de leche cheesecake with blackcurrant & carrot caramel and Churros with cinnamon sugar, warm chocolate sauce & Chantilly – both puddings were light, not too sweet or heavy on an already full stomach – a wonderful way to end a meal I will be talking about for quite some time.
