This summer, Shangri-La The Shard, London harks back to its Asian heritage with an authentic Singaporean immersion experience in tribute to the 1971 opening of Shangri-La Group’s first hotel, Shangri-La Singapore.
From 28th July to 28th September, the hotel’s lobby and public spaces will be transformed with lush, leafy arrangements and blossoming orchids to set a scene reminiscent of Singapore’s Botanic Gardens, while colourful motifs and patterns inspired by the country’s Peranakan culture will also feature throughout. Guests can look forward to a range of bespoke amenities designed to reflect the vibrant tropics and children will be welcomed with an interactive DIY (decorate-it-yourself) biscuit box, modelled after the lion, moon and stars that feature on the nation’s coat of arms.
The hotel’s restaurant and bars will serve a selection of sweet and savoury fare from the Lion City, including a beverage inspired by the nation’s most iconic cocktail. At TĪNG, the delightfully decadent Cloud Forest Afternoon Tea offers a fusion of modern Asian flavours and traditional afternoon tea elements for an unforgettable dining experience, with items such as scones paired with pandan and coconut jam, wasabi, cucumber and cream cheese finger sandwiches and mandarin and vanilla macarons for guests to enjoy.
TĪNG has also teamed up with Shangri-La Singapore’s culinary team to bring several Singaporean delicacies to London, with the restaurant’s a la carte menu featuring favourites such as chilli crab, fried Cha Been Hoon, Singapore curry laksa and more. GŎNG’s talented mixologists have taken inspiration from the iconic Singapore Sling to create a new cocktail in honour of the occasion.
The Cloud Forest cocktail combines Roku gin with contemporary Asian spirits and flavours including baiju, mirin, kumquat liqueur, pomegranate molasses and pineapple for a rich and refreshing tipple to rival the original. The Cloud Forest cocktail will be available at all of the hotel’s outlets, including GŎNG, Bar 31 and TĪNG.
