The Bloomsbury Hotel: Art Deco Wall Art & Elegant Rooms In The Heart of London

You’d be hard pressed to find a more convenient location than the Bloomsbury Hotel. Art Deco forms, luxurious pink velvet sofas, and ornate wallpaper are just a few examples of the eccentric design elements at this stunning five-star hotel, while the well-stocked library pays homage to the neighbourhood’s literary past and the iconic Dalloway Terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy some delicious food and drink in an enchanted setting.

Location

The Bloomsbury Hotel is ideally located just a few minutes from the Tottenham Court Road Tube station, making it a great luxury hotel for those sightseeing, visiting London for a theatre show or a shopping trip. Although the hotel is extremely centrally located, it is still on a street that is pleasantly quiet and devoid of too many holidaymakers. The famous British Museum, Soho, Covent Garden, and the West End are all within walking distance.

Style & Character

Built by Edwin Lutyens in the early 20th century, this elegant redbrick structure was previously home to the Central Club of the Young Women’s Christian Association, giving it quite the historical past. Since it was reinvented as a hotel in the 1990s, it has undergone numerous transformations, the most recent of which was led by celebrated architect Martin Brudnizki, with the vibrant pink and vast in size Coral Room bar being the latest addition to the hotel’s many lovely rooms.

Rooms & Suites

Luxurious Studio Suites at the Bloomsbury are all large, airy, and situated on the building’s corners to maximise space, light, and views; they also feature designer rugs, solid hardwood furniture, and velvet-upholstered armchairs in a rich and regal colour palette. The spacious Italian marble bathrooms, with their freestanding roll-top tubs, separate showers, and double marble-topped vanity units, contribute to the airy, luxurious atmosphere.

We stayed in one of the hotel’s Luxury Studio Suites, where studio living takes on an elegant yet lavish vibe via slick blinds and parquet floors, while playful touches – statement wallpaper, lantern lampshades and vintage-style upholstery – ensure a homely feel. Earthy, natural tones around the suite also lend a sense of calm and space.

Dining & Drinks

Join the sophisticated brunch scene at The Dalloway Terrace, which is located on each side of the hotel’s magnificent entry stairs. Elsewhere, the length of the hotel is taken up by the playfully opulent Coral Room, which is decorated in gold and pink and features a variety of hideaway tables, velvet shell couches, and see-and-be-seen bar stools.

A full and traditionally superb breakfast, including everything from healthy and colourful acai bowls and oatmeal to eggs Benedict, is available each morning in the Club Dining Room and out on Dalloway Terrace.

Dinner inside The Dalloway Terrace is also a must. The restaurant is open all year round, providing the serenity of a hidden garden in the winter and the breezy elegance of an outside patio in the spring and summer thanks to its year-round heating system. In addition to a wide selection of cocktails and wines, the Dalloway Terrace menu features many classic dishes with a twist. Must try dishes include the grilled prawns for starter or the tuna ceviche, the black miso cod for a main dish and the sticky toffee pudding to finish.

Service & Facilities

The service throughout the hotel is welcoming, friendly and not too formal. Reception staff are willing to help with almost any request and the serving staff in the Dalloway Terrace are extremely accommodating and warm. Facilities around the hotel include a library, gym and free WiFi throughout. Inside all rooms and suites, guests will find a well-stocked minibars, free still and sparkling water, which is refreshed daily, as well as free Nespresso coffee and tea-making kit.
