Zilwa Attitude: Mauritius’ Very Own Paradise

The stunning Zilwa Attitude hotel in Mauritius exudes typical Mauritian character and it is absolutely the ideal place to discover this picturesque part of the world and also to unwind and recharge your batteries.

The whole resort draws heavily on local traditions and has been created to make guests feel like a true islander, which is what “Zilwa” means in Creole.

From the simple, yet stylish rooms (don’t get me started on that incredible rainforest shower), to the delicious local dishes and cultural experiences, this hotel is guaranteed to make you feel like you’re in a home away from home.

Location

Situated on the north coast of Mauritius, in Kalodyne, close to the fishermen’s village of Grand Gaube, this 4* hotel has a somewhat perfect location.

Being an all-inclusive hotel and filled with activities and entertainment, there really isn’t any need to leave the resort if you don’t wish to! But if you do, the location is perfectly fine for all excursions and day trips!

The airport is approximately 1.5 hours drive from the hotel, but it’s a truly beautiful car journey that makes for a terrific start to the holiday.

Zilwa overlooks six northern islands – and two tiny forested islands that belong to the resort. A beautiful view of the sloping Coin de Mire island, viewed across the swimming pool on arrival, gives a wow factor, whilst the bustle and swimming beaches of Grand Baie are only a short 20-minute drive away.

Rooms

The rooms at Zilwa were definitely one of the biggest highlights of our stay here. Contemporary rustic-chic designs mixed with Mauritian architecture.

The rooms are set in crescent-shaped buildings facing the sea and also feature patriotic colours with the red, blue, yellow and green of the Mauritian flag popping up around the rooms.

Pink and purple flip flops make a useful room gift. The Privilege Suites have a whirlpool tub on the balcony. There are also three categories of family rooms.

Dining

Not only does Zilwa offer local delicacies, it also serves typical dishes from around the world, such as Indian, Chinese and European cuisine to reflect the diversity of the island.

There are 7 different areas to dine in and 2 bar areas, giving guests plenty of variation, especially if you’re staying for over a week. The hotel also prepare picnics for those heading off on excursions for the day! Handy and delicious.

Entertainment & Facilities

During our 10 night stay, we never find ourselves out of activities, bored or wondering what to do with our day. The hotel has plenty of schedules around, showing guests what activities and entertainment there are in the coming week – from cinema under the stars to traditional dancing shows and yoga.

There are also three different pools and daily fitness classes to work off all of that delicious food! Outdoor activities such as snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking are also included free of charge.

So if you’re looking for that piece of paradise, complete with a private white sandy beach and crystal turqoise waters, fun entertainment and a beautiful, relaxing setting, look no further than the unique Zilwa Attitude for your traditional Mauritian adventure.
