If you’re planning a trip to Costa Rica, here are seven beaches you shouldn’t miss!
Tamarindo
Perhaps Costa Rica’s most well-known beach. There are plenty of fantastic resorts, rental homes, and restaurants and bars to keep visitors happy in Tamarindo.
Tarmindo has exhilarating, infectious, and joyful energy. Travellers appreciate the ability to surf or fish during the day and then return in time for happy hour cocktails at the multiple beachside pubs.
Manuel Antonio
Despite being one of Costa Rica’s most popular beaches, it is the total opposite of Tamarindo, Manuel Antonio is a national park on the Pacific Ocean that is fully undeveloped.
And while some tourists come here for the sun on a magnificent white sand beach with mild water, most visitors, however, come to see the rainforest’s vivid life, which includes tropical birds, monkeys, and cute sloths.
Playa Uvita
Playa Uvita, in Costa Rica’s Marino Ballena National Park, is a lesser-known beach. It’s busiest in the winter, from December to April, when tourists can spot humpback whales migrating south to the Pacific Coast’s warmer waters.
While fishing is not permitted, there are excellent snorkelling and scuba diving possibilities and just north of Uvita, Playa Hermosa is ideal for novice and intermediate surfers.
Playa Montezuma
Playa Montezuma is a white-sand beach perfect for sunbathing, and the adjacent surf beach is famous with surfers. Tidal pools, waterfalls, canopy tours, a turtle sanctuary, and plenty of other animals can be found in the area. Just keep in mind that the monkeys have a habit of stealing food right off your plate!
Jaco
Known as one of Costa Rica’s top surfing beaches, and ideal for a fantastic budget vacation with cheap food, nightlife, and accommodations ranging from hostels to resorts. It’s a popular destination with it being only an hour and a half from San Jose, and more of a party town for large young groups.
Tortuguero
A stunning beach in Tortuguero National Park, and an environmentalist or animal lover’s haven, t he jungle meets the sea here on the Caribbean, and with it, a plethora of unique animals, some of which are endangered, may be spotted. Many visitors come to see the nesting green sea turtles and other turtles on the beach.
Although the national park is not accessible by land, the region is easily accessible by boat. There are various walking pathways, but the most convenient method to travel around is by boat or kayak, which may be rented.
