Los Angeles Travel Guide: Hollywood Stars, Excursions & Theme Parks

Los Angeles does not require an introduction.  Whether your excursions are focused on getting a behind-the-scenes peek at the film industry, seeing the beaches, or shopping your heart out, you’ll find that Los Angeles is unlike any other city in the world.

From days by the ocean to Hollywood star spotting, family fun at a theme park or an excursion to Joshua Tree National Park, take a read of our travel guide below.

The Ocean

Los Angeles is a true sunshine paradise, with miles of coastline. There’s the famous Manhattan Beach Pier with its spectacular sunsets, but for a truly unique beach experience, head to Dockweiler Beach with its orangey sand, El Matador Beach with its amazing rock formations, or Surfrider Beach in Malibu.

The Stars

Whether they’re eating at a trendy vegan restaurant in Echo Park or sunbathing by the pool of a fancy Beverly Hills hotel, the world’s biggest celebrities touch elbows with tourists. Visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Runyon Canyon paths, and the West Hollywood neighbourhoods studded with lavish mansions during the day. The stars like to hang out at the Chateau Marmont and Silver Lake’s lively restaurants at night before a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

Family Fun

Theme parks are synonymous with family vacations to Los Angeles: Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Universal Studios guarantee thrills for all ages. The iconic yet smaller-scale Pacific Park, with its waterfront Ferris wheel, is also not to be missed on the Santa Monica Pier. The Griffith Observatory and its world-class planetarium will excite anyone who enjoys stargazing.

Excursions

Exploring the splendour that surrounds Los Angeles is a must-do on any vacation to California. Visit Santa Barbara for its immaculate colonial architecture and botanical gardens, Palm Springs for its festive vibes and mid-century charm, Joshua Tree National Park for hiking and Mojave heritage, Ojai for vineyards and farm-to-table cuisine, and Santa Catalina Island for a truly unforgettable day at sea.
