Kempinski Hotels Announces Opening of Frutt Mountain Resort in Central Switzerland

In the heart of Central Switzerland and only 40 km from Lucerne, Frutt Mountain Resort, newly managed by Kempinski Hotels, will welcome ski and nature lovers in the midst of a winter wonderland. The gondola takes guests up to 2,000 metres directly to the idyllic Melchsee Lake in the Melchsee-Frutt ski area, which delights every morning with an impressive mountain panorama and views of the peaks of the Alps or Titlis.

“The safety of our guests and all our Frutt fans is, of course, our most important priority. With this in mind, we have taken extra steps here at Frutt Mountain Resort to ensure the right set-up. Through various adjustments, we can offer our guests enough space to enjoy themselves this winter,” says Andreas Magnus, General Manager Kempinski Palace Engelberg and Frutt Mountain Resort. “We provide clear information when booking enquiries are made and are open to any questions or concerns.”

Consisting of two modern hotel buildings connected by an underground tunnel, this attractive hideaway scores with its authentic ambiance, offering 96 rooms, five junior suites and 13 suites. The interior design, inspired by the lodge style, is an exciting contrast to the monolithic exterior façade. A modern alpine lifestyle, and high-quality and natural materials made of local woods and stone, as well as appealing bathrooms, allow guests to relax in a cosy atmosphere, which is not least due to the two spa and wellness areas of the mountain resort. When it’s really cold outside, the saunas, pools or a wide range of massages and cosmetic treatments provide a relaxing feeling par excellence. Divided into a bathing and resting zone, Finnish and bio saunas, a steam bath, a snow grotto or a whirlpool with waterfall offer relaxation after an exhausting day on the slopes.

Frutt Mountain Resort also has a lot to offer when it comes to food and beverages: whether in the Lago and Titschli restaurants with the Stübli or at the hotel bar, the kitchen and service team spoil guests with varied and contemporary food concepts. The majority of the products used come from the region of Switzerland and form the basis for predominantly regional dishes with an international influence, while pizza or patisserie of a high standard is not to be missed. Wine lovers will enjoy talking to the federally certified sommelière of Frutt Mountain Resort, who presents over 400 positions on the wine list with a large proportion of Swiss wines, also from the surrounding area and from smaller wineries. In the lobby with bar and open real wood fireplace or on the large panoramic sun terrace, guests can relax with classic or fancy cocktails amidst a mystical landscape or enjoy a selection of cigars in the cigar lounge with a view.

For skiers, the extremely snowsure Melchsee area is made accessible on 36 km of slopes with all levels of difficulty by 16 modern transport facilities. The multifaceted winter landscape stands for fantastic slopes, which can be reached directly from Frutt Mountain Resort, being a ski-in-and-ski-out hotel. Those who prefer to go without skis and walk on their feet can also enjoy ice fishing or sledging on the 8-km-long sledge run, the longest in Central Switzerland.

Families with children will also get their money’s worth here, as Frutt Mountain Resort not only has its own bowling alley, a cinema and a kids’ club but also direct access to the children’s learning area of the Frutt Ski School with its innovative learning sledge course – entertainment for the little ones is therefore guaranteed.

As the resort of Melchsee-Frutt is car-free, guests can easily park their cars at the Stöckalp valley station and take the cable car to Frutt Mountain Resort. The ski resort is also easy to reach by public transport: From Zurich Airport it takes about two hours to access the resort, and, if guests land there in the morning, they will be on their skis by midday.
